Posted under Poker & online poker & poker celebrities & poker rooms & poker tournament & professional poker

FullTiltPoker.com has just launched a brand new informative site covering all the action of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up tournament involving some of the finest big money poker players taking on the Heads Up Specialist Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The new website section gives poker players and followers the chance to stay on top of this historical online poker challenge and check out timely updates. With this innovative “durrrr heads up Challenge” portal fans can track all the details and look at each poker hand played during this poker challenge, and look at lots of stats, including how many hands were played, time of session, cash won, average won during each hand and lots more.

Close to six months ago, the 23 year old online poker phenomenon dealt out a heads-up poker challenge for any poker player with the cash, time and talent to accept it. Any player entering the poker challenge has to bet $500,000 against durrrr’s $1.5 million. Dwan’s challenge states that at least 50,000 hands need to be played simultaneously at 4 or more poker tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the poker challenge, the poker player who has more cash will secure the pool. Basically if you enter the Full Tilt Challenge and win a dollar after the 50,000 hands, then you will take home durrrr’s $1.5 Million, but if he succeeds by a dollar then he will take your $500,000.

So far, several poker players have accepted to play the “durrrr challenge”, including WSOP Champ Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, but, only Patrick Antonius has accepted the challenge. Thus far, both poker players have completed in a total of 20,647 poker hands out of 50,000, with Tom durrrr Dwan ahead $726,546 total.

Online Texas Hold’em Poker Special Investigation Show will be shown on TV

Posted under Poker & poker chips & poker rooms

60 minutes
This Sunday, November 30th the CBS network will show their special program “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This investigation special was created after a sixteen week study into the online Texas Hold’em poker industry and particularly a scandal in relation to the online poker website Absolute Poker.

This Texas Hold’em poker webpage was studied after some of the Texas Hold’em poker players on the webpage stated that some person was unlawfully winning an incredible amount of poker hands. Todd Witteles was a major witness in this inquiry, according to Witteles; he was losing huge amounts of money to the exact same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles declared that this poker player was raising against awfully good cards, most players would have assumed he was simply giving his money to the other players, but he was incredibly earning tons of chips.

Witteles was pretty accurate with his assumptions, it was later discovered that a poker player who knew about the site was able to view any player’s poker hole cards. With the first look, Absolute Poker proclaimed that there were no issues with the website or the Texas Hold’em competitor. After a great deal of players presented the site with charges of fraud, the Texas Hold’em webpage looked deeper into the cheating problem and made the discovery.

By Jan. of this year, the KGC exposed what the Texas Hold’em poker competitors and the Texas Hold’em poker website had suspected all the time. It turned out that, there was an employee who had attacked the poker room’s security and was competing unlawfully for around a month and a half. The inquiry showed that the poker site had not benefited from the illegal transactions in any way, and was positively not implicated.

These situations are further evidence that there must be more laws regarding online Texas hold’em websites. The U.S. government should authorize and legalize the online Texas Hold’em poker industry to defend these decent customers. These guidelines would also regulate the entry to these websites by kids, which is turning into another fear nowadays.

Answering 3 of the most important poker tactics Questions

Posted under Poker & learning poker & poker tips

Is it more effective to play a tight Texas holdem’ tournament or a loose Texas holdem’ tournament?

You will unquestionably hear two theories from your fellow poker players or perhaps the so-called poker professionals. Let’s look first at the tight poker players. Each player including yourself will find it hard winning, if the entire poker table is playing tight. Probably if you have a table full of tight players what may happen is the poker players will finish up trading the smaller pots back and forth to each other. All the while the casino is raking in loads of your hard-earned cash, and that of your competitors. So now you might think, is it better to play loose? Well, in this situation the better players are going to lose fewer hands, but at the end of it all nobody is going to prevail.

How can I better my Texas holdem’ playing in the long run?

The answer to this question is as simple as a piece of paper and a pen. A terrific plan to find out a lot about your playing method and tactic, is to keep some sort of record of your Texas holdem’ playing. It’s possible to write down this information during the Texas holdem’ game, and then transfer it to a database on your home computer. This can also help you learn about your challenger’s playing style, and what is the best tactic to overpower them.

Should I use the same strategy for every Texas holdem’ tournament?

If you think that being predictable is a winning tactic for playing Texas holdem’, then you should think about altering your poker strategy. The Texas holdem’ pros agree that modifying your Texas holdem’ playing method is the best way to confuse and puzzle your poker opponents. You should analyze a handful of tactics, find the ones that work for you and vary them for every Texas holdem’ game.

Even the professionals get bluffed every so often

Posted under Poker & learning poker & professional poker

According to the 2006 World Series of Poker champion, Jamie Gold, he wants to be celebrated as the greatest bluffer in the world. But if his last tournament is any clue, his wish may not come true any time soon.

The location is the 2007 Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic held at the Las Vegas Bellagio Hotel and Casino in 2007. Featuring $50 - $100 blinds and a $15,000 buy-in, Darrell Dicken is hanging on in the tournament for dear life. The seat 4 player has just raised his wager to $300, a pretty small increase with only one player biting the line. “I put him as being weak,” Jamie said, “I was thinking about raising, but instead I just called with a 10-3 of hearts to see what would happen.”

Jamie thought that Brad Booth would make some kind of move, which he did. He re-raised to $1600 from the big blind. Gold was thinking that Booth had a decent hand, but he was in a good position to make a move taking into account the amount of dead money in the pot. Dicken ended up folding, and the unknown in Seat 4 called Booth’s raise.

At this point there was more than $4000 in the pot, so Jamie wagered another $4000. He was thinking, only if someone else had aces or kings there would be no way they would make that call. Jamie’s strategy was to make a huge move on the flop, as long as no ace came up. The second part of his strategy was to get Booth to fold, which he did. Booth folded with pocket queens.

Out of the flop there was an ace of ace-6-5, two clubs. The player in seat 4 checked and Jamie bet $2000. Jamie’s initial thought was to make him think that he had clubs. Seat 4 tossed out a $10,000 chip, but didn’t say anything thus converting his raise into a call. Jamie’s thought was that seat 4 definitely had an ace, but you have to protect it in case he hits his set on the following card.

A 2 of hearts appeared on the turn, and Jamie folded to what he was thinking was a top pair kicker. Seat 4 displayed a king-jack off suit. Seat 4 outplayed Gold by bluffing with a better hand, he created a great play and continued with the bluff straight to the end.
