Looking around at the next Las Vegas Texas Hold’em poker tournament that you have a chance to attend, it is easy to see that Asian players enjoy a far lower level of endorsements than their American counterparts, despite being strong winners or flamboyant players. With the seemingly unbalanced method of awarding endorsements to players, it is easy to see how Asian players could be upset and feel that they have been slighted when so few have been offered endorsement deals while lesser, non-Asian players are fielding offers from all manner of corporations such as Nike and other, unnamed textile clothing companies. Although there are many thousands of dollars that flow to the Texas Hold’em professional tournament players hands every year, in the case of the Asian players, no matter how successful they are, it is usually far more difficult to secure the type of endorsement deals that are hoped for by these types of players, looking for additional earnings to supplement their winnings. With the wildly popular method of endorsing professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players and increasing the level of exposure for corporations endorsement package plans, Asian players go a long way towards keeping the sport alive. By slighting these players and not offering them the same endorsement package deals that are offered to other players, organizers and planners indicate their willingness to allow this type of insult to exist.
As Asian players and professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament organizers and planners grow increasingly more at odds with the other, it is seemingly unlikely that endorsement offers will come out of the woodwork overnight for these types of players. Whether based on ethnicity or culture, it is hard to tell what type of discrimination is occurring, but it does seem apparent that there is some type of discrimination against Asian players, seeing as how so many of them are so successful and yet still have no endorsement deals to choose from.
Endorsement deals for online poker room and casino players as well as their brick-and-mortar, traditional Texas Hold’em poker tournament player counterparts can be quite lucrative and it is easy to understand how Asian players can be upset that they have been passed over for these types of sharing plans again and again. Considering that some Asian players who successfully do well on a consistent basis see less promotional endorsement offers than even the lowest ranked native Caucasian player, it is easy to understand how these players can feel that they have been singled out and discriminated against.
